Ammayum Kunjum ("we", "us", or "our") is a postnatal care marketplace built in Kochi, Kerala, connecting new mothers with verified care homes. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use the Ammayum Kunjum app or website (the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account & Identity

• Phone number — required to sign in via one-time password (OTP)
• Full name and display name
• Email address (optional)

Health Information

• Care stage (prenatal or postnatal)
• Expected or actual baby birth date
• Any health notes you voluntarily add to your profile

We treat health information with extra care. We do not sell or share it with advertisers.

Location

• Approximate district or city — used to show nearby providers (you choose your district in-app)
• Precise GPS location — only when you grant permission, for "near me" search

Booking & Communication

• Bookings you make, including dates and care home choices
• Messages sent to providers through the in-app chat
• Emergency contact details you voluntarily add

Device & Technical

• Device model, operating system version, and app version
• Push notification token (to send booking alerts)
• Anonymised crash logs and error reports

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the Service — matching you with verified providers, enabling bookings, and sending confirmations
• To personalise your experience — showing nearby providers, remembering your language preference (English or Malayalam)
• To communicate with you — booking reminders, important service updates, and (with your consent) promotional messages
• To keep the platform safe — detecting fraud, abuse, and technical issues
• To improve the platform — aggregated, anonymised analytics to understand how features are used

3. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell your personal data. We share only as described below:

4. Data Retention

We keep your account data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, financial records under Indian tax law).

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data
• Delete your account and personal data
• Nominate a person to exercise your data rights on your behalf
• Withdraw consent to non-essential data processing at any time

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Security

We use industry-standard TLS encryption in transit, secure cloud infrastructure, and strict access controls. We use Firebase OTP — passwords are never stored. Despite these measures, no system is completely secure; please keep your phone and account safe.

8. Cookies and Tracking

Our mobile app does not use browser cookies. Our website uses essential cookies for navigation and, with your consent, analytics cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

9. Third-Party Links

The Service may link to care providers' own websites or WhatsApp profiles. These are governed by their own privacy policies; we are not responsible for their practices.

10. Changes to This Policy

We will notify you of material changes via the app or email at least 14 days before they take effect. The updated policy will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
